Redirects of internal urls?

I was hoping to use this plugin to redirect users to a disclaimer page before they can get to an article inside the site. I hoped that using an absolute url would make the link appear to be an external link for the plugin, but that's not the case.

Is there anything I can do to make this work for a link to another page inside the site?

The plugin does not support such feature. It is possible to implement it but it will require more features like selecting which links to redirect.
