My site is a new joomla website and is running the latest version of php.  Yet I am getting this error:

Error 0:
this particular software cannot be used with the installed version of PHP

Please advise!
Thanks!

Hi, Tim.

Teamspeak 3 PHP Framework requires php version 5.2.1. It means that your version is lower if you received that error message. I'm sorry that this information wasn't in the manual. I will add it.

Thanks for the quick reply.  My hosting service assured me only a few weeks ago that the up to date version of php was on their servers/my site.  I know I could ask them again.. but is there a way that you know of... a place or menu or help file on my site that I could look at to see what version is installed... to see if they are telling me the truth?  Forgive me if I am asking too much here.

Thanks again!

I am still trying to find out what version i have.. but looking on the php website... there are two new stable versions out:     1.  Current PHP 5.3 Stable: 5.3.3  and 2. Current PHP 5.2 Stable: 5.2.14.

I can see if my version is "too old" things wouldnt work...  but if you are saying I need version 5.2.1 and I have... say .... 5.2.14 or 5.3.3 ..... is this still a problem if my version is actually newer than what you  say I need?

I really like you product but I am no php guru and I have no clue what to do.  Forgive my ignorance.

UGN!... forgive my excess posts.. but I am getting updated as I type...  I did find I have version PHP Version 5.2.0-8+etch16.    So that is older than what you say I need. so now my fear would be... if my site is upgraded to the latest php version 5.2.14 or 5.3.3 .....  will that still cause the teamspeak viewer not to work and most importantly (of which I am waiting my hosting folk to answer)... would it crash my site.  I feel like these are things I should know... but I dont.  Which would lead me to a final question I will look for an answer to...  Should anybody update their php version every time a new stable version comes out?!

also... what is your opinion on this:  My hosting comp/ says they are moving my site in a week to a new linux server with a more current version of php.  They offered to move it now.  Would that be wise?

Thanks for helping me!

Well, hard to say. I don't believe that there could be compatibility problems when moving to a newer version. But moving to another server(physically) is another story. It is possible that a site depends on some specific php settings and/or modules. Those problems are possible to fix but it's always better to make tests before moving a live site to avoid downtime.
